Improve your Application's Success with a Cover Letter

A well-written cover letter will generally be the first thing the recruiter sees.

Cover letters are invariably overlooked by candidates, yet they form a very vital part of the application process and will generally be the first thing a recruiter sees when evaluating your application.

A well written, well constructed letter will set the entire tone for your application, creating that imperative first impression and will encourage the reader to continue to scrutinise your CV.

Cover letters should be  written in a formal, business format and must match your CVs content, design and pitch to create overall unison. 

All letters should be written on very high quality paper, atleast 100g in weigh and with a watermark to give the best impression possible.  Letters should always be addressed to the right person so, always try to get a contact name, where possible to improve your chances.

We use two types of cover letter at Anglia CV Solutions; specific and speculative.

Specific or Advert Response Letter

When responding to specific adverts, we ask that you provide us with a copy of the advertisement or a link to it for us to evaluate its content and requirements.  We will then be able to produce the most dynamic, influential letter tailored around the job and person specification and incorporating the adverts key words and core competences.

Speculative Letter

When making numerous speculative applications, we will produce an expertly worded cover letter aimed at the industry and position you aspire to.  Sending out speculative cover letters to targetted companies in your field can often prove fruitful.
